The William J. and Dorothy K. O’Neill Foundation

The William J. and Dorothy K. O’Neill Foundation is a private family foundation based in Cleveland, Ohio.  Founded in 1987 by Dorothy O’Neill and her son William J. O’Neill, Jr., the Foundation brings the O’Neill family together in service to their hometowns through their philanthropy.

The focus of our work is on the family, and four generations of the O’Neill family work in collaboration and partnership with organizations that share our desire to improve the quality of lives for families and communities. 

O'Neill Foundation President & CEO Announces Retirement

Leah S. Gary, President & CEO of the  O’Neill Foundation, has  announced her plans to retire in the summer of 2016 after more than nine years of leading the Foundation.  The Board of Trustees has launched a nationwide search for her successor. Responsive Grantmaking Letter of Inquiry

The Foundation's Cycle 1/2016 Letter of Inquiry due date is February 22, 2016. As of January 2016, all Letters of Inquiry must be submitted using our new online application process. Please review our Letter of Inquiry process to submit a Responsive Grant request. 

Exciting News for O’Neill Foundation Responsive Grantmaking Grantees

In April 2016 the William J. and Dorothy K. O’Neill Foundation (ONF) will be offering a new grant program called Responsive Deep Impact Grants (R-DIGs) to target significant resources to specific issues important to the Foundation’s mission and vision to strengthen families in the communities where we serve. This grantmaking program will offer multi-year grants of up to $100,000 per year over three years.  The Foundation will release Requests for Proposals in April 2016 and will make the R-DIGS grants in September 2016.  To determine if your are eligible for the R-DIGS program please CLICK HERE.  If you are not eligible for the R-DIGS program and wish to know more about our 2016 Responsive Grantmaking Program please CLICK HERE.
